Counsellors see people who are experiencing emotional difficulties e.g. feeling depressed or anxious, or who have had distressing life events such as relationship problems or bereavement, which they are finding hard to cope with.
The first appointment with the counsellor allows you to explore together what help you require and how this can best be achieved.
We have counsellors available at the practice on a Thursday and Friday afternoon however appointments are limited. If you feel like you need to access this type of service please make an appointment with one of our GPs or Advanced Nurse Practitioner.
Alternatively you can self-refer to North Tyneside Talking Therapies by calling 0191 295 2775
Or by writing to:
Wallsend Health Centre
There office is open Monday to Friday 8.30am – 5pm. Appointments are available Monday to Thursday between 7.45am and 7.30pm and between 7.45am and 5pm on Fridays.
The course aims to help you learn how to manage the symptoms of anxiety, depression, stress and low mood, and understand the links between activity, unhelpful thinking and mood, to increase wellbeing.
